I read Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris on Monday, May 25th. I read this one fast, in one sitting. I really enjoyed it, too. Sookie seems genuinely interested in Quinn, which was suprising yet fun. Charlaine is definitely giving Sookie a lot of options in the love department and that’s fun, but a little annoying, too. I guess the more possibilities, the more conflict, and that’s one of the most important elements to any story. But, I’d rather only have a few characters to know and mull over for Sookie. For instance, I’m not really getting Calvin Norris right now. Why in the world would Sookie even entertain that one? *shivers*
I was a little disappointed by this book’s mystery though. It seemed to get revealed and resolved rather quickly and it felt slightly unfulfilling for some reason. I’m still pulling for a real go of it between Eric and Sookie at some point. There’s too much tension for it not to come to a head down the road. I’m hoping sooner rather than later because I like Eric and there seems to be a lot of competition popping up. And I love how the connection between Sookie and Bill is still there. Definitely Dead should be interesting. I did a little reading ahead and see that the next two books involve the Summit so that’s thought-provoking. I can’t wait to get to town to buy the next three books–Definitely Dead, All Together Dead, and From Dead to Worse.
