No, you're not alone on the new SyFy, and now I know, neither am I.

My daughter, who is only 10 1/2, loves Tim Burton films. She lists him as her favorite director so we're both stoked for the upcoming Alice in Wonderland (2010). We saw a preview for it before The Squeakquel (2009), which made us even more excited.

And Matt Frewer is definitely one of those "character" actors that everyone probably looks at and says to themselves, "I know that guy," but can't ever remember his name. Watchmen (2009) and Dawn of the Dead (2004) are the first of his films to come to mind with Honey! I Shrunk the Kids (1989) a close runner up. Yeah, pretty much all over the genre spectrum there, eh?

Thanks for stopping by!

So I'm not the only one ticked off about SciFi going SyFy? I thought it was such a ridiculous and unnecessary change.

*ahem*

Alice - I go back and forth on whether or not I really liked it. It definitely was updated in feel and included modern concerns. I'm a very visual person, so the effects made a big impression on me. I thought they were quirky and fun. I also found that Dee and Dum were one of the better re-imaginings and honestly, it took me a while, but I fell in love with Hatter by the end. The state-sponsored addiction was kind of different, but almost too simplistic. The character of Jack and his "role" - obvious and overdone. But I suppose these weren't really enough to keep me from enjoying the series. The thing I always love is seeing beloved actors from other movies and shows popping up in new places - so I enjoyed seeing Kathy Bates, Tim Curry, Colm Meaney and Matt Frewer. I guess overall I found Alice to be a pleasant way to spend some time with my teenage daughter, who absolutely loved it. (She is a huge Tim Burton fan and can't wait to see his version of Alice - me either, for that matter!)

Keep up the reviews - I enjoyed this!
